The LORENTZ ECDRIVE is a brushless and sensorless DC motor. This unique design has been selected for its very high efficiency across a wide load range. The ECDRIVE is perfectly suited to the solar water pumping application as efficiency is maintained even at times when only low power levels can be yielded from solar modules.
In real world conditions, the ECDRIVE outperforms similar sized AC motors with 91% average day efficiency compared to 53% for the AC motor. It achieved this by having a 50% better peak efficiency than AC motors and a broadly flat efficiency curve from 20% to 120% load (speed).

The ECDRIVE is built inside a cast stainless steel housing. High power rare earth (neodymium) permanent magnets provide high torque for maximum performance.
The ECDRIVE is driven by a PWM signal from the PS2 controller. The PWM signal ensures a soft start and infinite speed control of the motor. The ECDRIVE benefits from generating very little heat.
Only non-corrodible materials are used, motor windings are cast in resin to provide a very long life, even in difficult conditions.
The ECDRIVE motor is water filled at the factory, the water provides lubrication for the motor and in the event of a failure ensures that the water source is not polluted.
